New version of the Iron Man 2 trailer [08 Mar 2010|09:16am]

I'd like to apologize to KevinniveK, I was wrong about Gary Oldman being in this...

...but as you can see, I was right about who Whiplash is!

Also this trailer clears up an issue I was having with this take on Shellhead. It really bothered me that he couldn't get in & out of the armor without that massive rig. Clearly not an issue anymore.

Regrettably a complaint a friend made a stretch back, about trailers in general, is becoming more and more evident as time goes on. They really do give away too much cool stuff in trailers! Anybody remember back in the day (WAY BACK) when they were only about 30 seconds long?

Re: Marvel DVD Animation Rant [08 Mar 2010|02:51am]

I just finished watching the new Marvel animated feature Planet Hulk, and really loved it. Marvel has put out some really decent DVD features over the past few years, I think. The quality has dipped up & down a bit between their movies, but overall it's been fairly consistent.

With their next film being Thor: Tales of Asgard, I ask all of you just out of sheer curiosity...if you could pick a subject for the next Marvel animated feature, what would you do? With the whole of Marvel characters to choose from, what would you want to see?

Personally, I'd go for something a bit more obscure, or less obvious choices. Like:

--- Exiles. Or it's predecessor, Mutant X (anybody remember that one?).
--- Busiek's original Thunderbolts story.
--- Something with Marvel's second-tier characters, like Hercules or Deathlok for example.
--- Heroes For Hire.
--- A Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD flick would rule.
--- The Defenders (with an altered lineup, perhaps?).
--- Spider-Man 2099.
--- A GOOD Howard the Duck adaptation (thrown in for good measure, dammit). "Get Down, America!" :)

There's always adapting the big story-lines...stuff like Secret Wars, Age Of Apocalypse, Civil War, or The Infinity Gauntlet. But those could be a bit daunting for a 90-minute movie---too many characters. Hell, I'd dig a Spider-Man/Daredevil flick done all "buddy-cop style"...that could be fun too.

Oh, and speaking of Marvel Animation, when the hell are they coming out with season 2 of Wolverine and the X-Men, anyway? Does anybody know at this point (or even remember?)

An X-men: Evolution fic

Before Nightcrawler, before the Brotherhood, before Apocalypse, they were just two kids stuck in a large and lonely mansion, who loved hating each other's guts. A pre-series look at Scott Summers and Jean Grey, in simpler days of light and truth.

001. Lasting Impressions

Logan glanced up from the morning paper as Scott made his way into the kitchen. "You fetching the new girl today, Slim?"

"Yeah," Scott muttered, preparing a bowl of cereal. "Lucky me."

Over the grainy black-and-white headlines, Logan studied the high school sophomore's thunderous expression. "You don't look too thrilled about it."

"I don't like her," Scott bit out. "She's a spoiled, stuck-up, man-hating brat who thinks she's better than everyone else."

Amusement flickered along the hard lines of Logan's face. "Man-hating? Really?"

"She threw a book at my head. Jesus." Scott crunched through a mouthful of cereal with the vehemence usually reserved for harder foodstuff. "I should've just blasted her into oblivion."
